Holly Maries is the author and artist behind spores-on-mars. The inspiration for the name spores-on-mars came out of a body of research on19th-century plant exploration which led to a Masters in Research study where she investigated the explorer identity from the Victorian period to the astronaut and Mars exploration today. But that was a long time ago…
Before then, Maries did a Fine Art and Visual Culture degree at UWE Bristol and spent most of her twenties involved in collaborative art projects in the UK and abroad.
Nowadays, Maries is a full-time mum and a practising artist in her spare time. Maries focuses on illustration, drawing and print. Recently she has begun making small batches of handmade paper. She lives just outside of Bristol, UK.
